Skilled US is a free workforce development program that supports participates as they strive to learn more and earn more.

If you are a parent, guardian, or family member of a PLA scholar, we are excited to offer you an opportunity to grow right alongside your child. Through Skilled US, family members ages 16 and older can access tuition-free career training programs designed to build real skills, earn certifications, and open the door to high-demand careers. Whether you are looking to start something new, advance in your current path, or create more stability for your family, Skilled US is here to support your journey—at no cost to you.

Our Mission

Our mission is driven by a passion for your success. With that in mind, we provide support to and through our program as well as for a year after training to ensure you are successful.

Our commitment to you extends beyond training. We keep in close contact throughout your courses, offering support such as transportation and uniform stipends to remove any barriers to success.

Upon completion, you’ll receive personalized job readiness via our Career Coaches to prepare you thoroughly for employment.

Skilled INDY YouthBuild

Free Construction Training for Youth (Ages 18–24) — this program gives you the tools, training, and connections to succeed.

Career and Technical Education

Our CTE opportunities prepare students for high-growth careers and long-term success.

GED and HSE

The GED (General Educational Development) and HSE (High School Equivalency) – earn your high school diploma equivalency.

English as a Second Language

Join us in a supportive, engaging environment to improve your English skills through our ESL program!

McKinney-Vento Act

The McKinney-Vento Act protects scholars from discrimination based on their lack of a permanent residence. Homeless Scholars are eligible to receive a variety of services including: transportation services, free meals under the school nutrition programs, limited English proficiency class, gifted and talented programs, and special education services based on a scholar’s eligibility.
